The Office of the Director of National Intelligence is pleased to announce the "DNI Open Source Conference 2008" to be held on Thursday, 11 September and Friday, 12 September, 2008 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington DC. The conference is free; however, all who wish to attend must register online in advance.

The two-day conference will explore a wide range of open source issues and open source best practices for the Intelligence Community and its partners. We invite participants from the broader open source community of interest including academia, think tanks, private industry, federal, state, local and tribal entities, international partners, and the media to attend.

Announcing: The Innovation Challenge has Begun!

NEW! This year's event features the "Open Source Innovation Challenge," a unique session where attendees can present their solutions to current intelligence community open source challenges directly to the ODNI. Conference registrants are invited to submit ideas and solutions to a set of open source challenges; selected applicants will be announced at the conference and will present their solutions at the final plenary session of the conference. The Innovation Challenge presents an ideal opportunity for private industry, academics, and open source practitioners to share their ideas before a welcoming audience.

In conjunction with the conference, a commercial exhibition will showcase open source information and technology vendors and will feature specialized open source demonstrations. Contact Nicole McCracken at the Federal Business Council on 800-878-2940 ext. 202, Nicole@fbcinc.com, or visit https://www.fbcinc.com/opensource/ for more information about how your organization may participate.
